In another race that has been profitable for Aidan O'Brien, ZOFFANY is a speculative selection to get the better of Strong Suit and Elzaam. Any number of the rest are open to improvement so the likes of: Irish Field, Roayh and Klammer are all worth noting in the betting. The last named has won both his previous starts in good style and, as he had to battle hard for victory last time out; his attitude looks spot on for the hustle and bustle of Royal Ascot. He could be good value for a place at least. Spanish raider Irish Field has yet to be popped a serious question, so the decision to bring him over has to be respected. This is much tougher than any thing will ever face in his homeland, though. Roayh improved to win a maiden at Leicester a fortnight ago and, as Godolphin's sole representative he is respected. He does need to step things up considerably, though. Elzaam cost 280,000euro and returned an immediate return on the investment with an all-the-way success on debut at York last month. The runner up in that race did his bit to boost the form last week, so the portents look good for the Michael Jarvis-trained colt. Having won a division of the same race Canford Cliffs won en route to last year's success, Strong Suit is following a tried and trusted path. The son of Rahy may be worth a saver at the likely prices. However, Zoffany is another strongly-made colt that has the right profile for success. Wins at Leopardstown and Naas have primed the son of Dansili for a crack at the bigger stages and, considering the likes of Henrythenavigator, Statue Of Liberty and Landseer were the stable's first string in years gone by, Zoffany will be in very good company if he can take the step up in class in his stride.
