Verdict

Finest Sound finished second in the Britannia Handicap at last year’s meeting but is 12lb higher today and found ASTRO KING too good at Nottingham in April. The latter has subsequently gone close in the Thirsk Hunt Cup and Sir Michael Stoute’s colt will be better suited by today’s track. Haqeeqy beat Brunch with subsequent winner Grove Ferry and Eastern World further behind when landing the Lincoln at Doncaster and ran well again in Listed company last time. Bell Rock placed in the Diomed at Epsom recently having beaten Maydanny at Newmarket earlier but Irish Admiral returned a disappointing favourite at the Derby meeting. Matthew Flinders beat Magical Morning at Doncaster last year while Layfayette landed the Irish Lincolnshire at the Curragh in March, though fast ground is a worry for him.
