Verdict

This has long been the target of Levera who hopefully will prove up to the task against the likes of Secret World, Red Clubs, Asset, Cousteau and Jeremy. Alan King has had plenty of big-race success over jumps, but he has never had a horse of Levera's quality on the Flat, and everyone concerned with the colt is excited by his progress. From the day that he stormed home on his reappearance at Newmarket, the Jersey Stakes has been the plan, and subsequent successes at headquarters and in a Listed contest at York have done nothing to detract from his chances here. Red Clubs will be suited by the drop back to seven furlongs after failing to stay in the 2,000 Guineas, while Secret World did nothing wrong in capturing his division of the Wood Ditton and is highly thought of. However, his entries in the Sussex Stakes and Coral-Eclipse suggest that this half-brother to Derby runner-up Walk In The park will find the trip too short. Asset was another Guineas flop but he was impressive in the Easter Stakes at Kempton and should not be dismissed back over seven furlongs. Cousteau needs to improve, as does Jeremy, but both are respected, as is Racer Forever. Levera definitely sets the standard here though and can complete a four-timer under Jamie Spencer.
