Verdict

Aidan O’Brien has won three of the last four renewals of this race so his main hope Belgravia has to command respect but was disappointing when beaten at Navan last time and his stamina for this trip is not proven. The other Ballydoyle entrant, Wisconsin, also has stamina questions to answer judged on his narrow victory in a Tipperary maiden and preference is for Mark Johnston’s TIME TO STUDY. He showed plenty of grit when digging in to win a valuable handicap at Musselburgh over this trip and is likely to improve further for a yard that has won this race seven times before. Desert Skyline was staying on stoutly over 1m2f furlongs at Epsom and can be involved at the finish while the lightly raced Count Octave, who ran poorly in the Chester Vase, is worth another chance at this more conventional track. Dermot Weld’s Haripour is also respected after his impressive performance in a Navan maiden and has each way claims while William Buick prefers Goodwood runner-up Secret Advisor to stablemate Alqamar. John Gosden’s Stradivarius is not certain to get the trip and Mister Manduro was due to run here yesterday.
