Invincible Lad has only been raised 4lbs for his win at Hamilton at the beginning of the month and Eric Alston's gelding is taken to follow up here, getting the verdict ahead of Mormeatmic and Until When. The last mentioned gave little sign for encouragement on his reappearance but Bryan Smart's gelding has slipped to a decent mark so has to be considered. Jim Goldie's Almost Married is less exposed than most of these after just four starts but needs to improve on all known form to trouble the judge, while Wicked Wilma would probably want the ground to be faster. Percy Douglas has claims on the pick of his form but has not won for some time and of more interest may be Mormeatmic, who has shown gradual improvement in each start this term. Invincible Lad has solid claims though and he gets the vote.
