In depth

Verdict

Folsom Blue will be striving to complete a unique treble for trainer Mouse Morris. He was fourth to stablemate Rogue Angel in the Irish National at Fairyhouse and bids for glory in this just a week after Rule The World won the Crabbie's Grand National for the stable at Aintree. All three carry the colours of Gigginstown, as does Willie Mullins' Measureofmydreams. The latter will be among the market leaders having finished third in the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham, which has been a good trial for this in the past. Cause Of Causes beat A Good Skin in the Kim Muir at Cheltenham and is a former winner of the National Hunt Chase. He and the lightly-weighted Heathfield also form part of a strong Irish challenge while the locals will be cheering on smart novice Seeyouatmidnight, though he finished behind Vyta Du Roc in the RSA Chase at The Festival. Highland Lodge and Alvarado missed the cut in the Grand National but both have decent claims here. The former won the Becher Chase in December and the latter was fourth in last year's Aintree spectacular when finishing ahead of Royale Knight. SHOTGUN PADDY easily beat Royale Knight in a Grade 3 at Warwick a couple of years ago and the fact that he is 20lb better off is testament to how well he is treated at present. Emma Lavelle's stayer, fitted with cheekpieces today, has been placed in both the Welsh National and Eider Chase this season and is readily forgiven his run on bottomless ground at Uttoxeter last time. He is the selection though Kerry Lee, who won the Welsh National in January, appears to have the found the key to Goodtoknow, who is on a hat-trick. Vicente, Milansbar and Gold Futures may all be too high in the weights now but Masters Hill usually runs his race and has place claims.
