Verdict

Montaquila gets the call over over Atabaas Pride, with Transmission worth noting in the market. Nothing stands out here, and only a small vote goes the way of Montaquila, a son of Hawk Wing who was putting in all his best work at the finish when third to Feared In Flight on his York debut a fortnight ago. He encounters similar ground here, and normal improvement should see Howard Johnson's juvenile make a bold bid. Atabaas Pride was slowly into his stride on his Pontefract bow over five furlongs, but picked up well to be fourth, and will appreciate the extra furlong, so is also on the short-list. The other two to have raced so far do not make much appeal, and it could well be one of the newcomers, Transmission, that makes a bigger impression. Whatever he does today though, his breeding suggests that he could be useful over further in time, with preference today for Montaquila.
