In depth

Verdict

A wide open looking handicap that can be short listed to Westmeath Flyer, Halcon Genelardais and Vicario with the tentative selection going to the last named. Ginger McCain has had a good season so far by his standards and Vicario has already won two races for him this season most latterly at Haydock where he had won earlier on in the season. He is steadily rising in the weights though which is a concern but with Graham Lee booked once more he is worth staying on the right side of. Westmeath Flyer won three times last year after coming back from a lengthy spell off injured. He fell on his final outing and has not been seen since April. The handicapper has put him up in the weights so this season he will find tougher so is one to treat with caution. The same can be said for Halcon Genelardais as he won twice last season before falling at Aintree. He has top weight to carry on his reappearance today which is no mean feat first time out.So for the winner we return to Vicario.
