In depth

Verdict

Stamford Blue is the tentative suggestion in a typically competitive contest. Ron Harris' charge made a brave attempt to make all over this course and distance last time only to be overtaken in the shadow of the winning post. He has gone up by a couple of pounds for that performance but the drying ground will help him last home and he's worth another chance. Caustic Wit has run well here in the past as well and comes into the race in decent form but he has crept back up in the weights and may be a shade too high. Spanish Ace and Rainbow Bay are well handicapped on their best form but haven't shown any signs of reproducing that lately whilst the consistent Prince Of Delphi continues to frustrate. It never pays to be too dismissive in these tight handicaps and the others should be monitored for signs of confidence but Stamford Blue has leading claims and will do for us.
