      Verdict

We feel that your best guide here might be the betting but, without that, Mandy's Maestro gets the nod ahead of Staked A Claim and White's Ruby. College Land Boy showed some promise on his Haydock debut while Gap Princess, who is bred to stay further than today's trip, has shown promise in running to form rated in the mid-60s in maidens and she has to be given some thought. As has Lempicka, who showed promise on her Warwick debut. Mandy's Maestro may not be blessed with speed but today's conditions will put more emphasis on stamina and, given that first-time blinkers brought some improvement last time, he can't be ruled out. Neither can Moheebb, who cost 160,000 guineas and is surely better than his Newbury debut finishing position might lead you to conclude. Orutund's form is plating class, but, a 44,000 euros purchase, Staked A Claim, showed enough on his debut to be rated a player in this maiden contest. Finally, give some thought also to Vesuvio, who has shown some promise and is by a soft-ground sire, and Brian Smart's White's Ruby, a 50,000 guineas purchase that certainly has a profile that is of some interest here. For the selection, though, we return to Mandy's Maestro.
