Verdict

FINAL OVATION is selected here ahead of Star Cruiser and Petrocelli. John Quinn's gelding has a more solid profile than many of his rivals and his second to Micky's Knock Off here last time is the best piece of recent form on offer. He holds Media Jury on that run and although still a maiden he is fancied to break his duck. Petrocelli is the one to beat on official ratings but his form this year has been poor; however a market move for this 72-rated runner would have to be taken seriously. Star Cruiser represents a yard in great form so is considered as he drops in trip, while Kirby's Gem and Reel Credit Crunch are both modest but the re-application of blinkers on the last-named may see her run a better race. The market could be informative here, however we are happy to nominate Final Ovation to win.
