In depth

Verdict

REBEL PRINCE is 3lb better off with Loulou after their encounter at Nottingham a fortnight ago and can reverse the form today. Classic Contours carries 6lb extra for last week's win at Hamilton and is another respected as a live danger. The last named has experience of the course and can be thereabouts if he handles the faster ground. Tae Kwon Do is another worthy of a mention, as he has improved on the all-weather of late and, although this is a stiffer test; he may be capable of again rising to the challenge. Being a daughter of a multiple Group-race winner, Loulou cost $300,000 when purchased at the Keenland Sales. However, it quickly became apparent that handicapping was going to be her forte last year. And it was no surprise to see her given plenty of time. She boosted her paddocks value by getting off the mark on her reappearance last month. However, Jimmy Fortune really earned his riding fee to keep her in front at Colwick Park and it makes for an intriguing rematch between her and the selection this afternoon. However, Rebel Prince also showed battling qualities at Nottingham and, on these terms, she is fancied to come out on top if they both run a similar race today.
