In depth

Verdict

A very weak apprentice handicap and we will take a chance with Treetops Hotel, Carpet Ride and Lenwade are put forward as the likely dangers. The selection was successful at Lingfield in February and although the form figures for his next three races look uninspiring he hasn't been beaten far on each occasion. The handicapper hasn't relented but this is the weakest event he has contested for a while and he should be good enough to land first prize. Carpet Ride is from a yard in good form and returns from a spell over hurdles. He doesn't look too badly treated back on the level and should be watched closely in the betting. Lenwade contested a much better race over course and distance last time and should find this company less taxing. Of the others Miss Monica can be given a squeak on the pick of her form , but Treetops Hotel is one of the more consistent runners here and he gets the vote.
