Verdict

Quarrymount should have too many guns here for Treason Trial and Komoto. The selection put up an improved effort for the step up to 11 furlongs at Ayr last time out and Sir Mark Prescott may now be eyeing up a sequence at around this trip as a result. The gelding has gone up 8lb recently, but can probably be put down as another Prescott-trained improver and it seems likely that he will fill that role today. Treason Trial won at Yarmouth on his penultimate start, when he shaped as if this trip would be ideal for him, staying on throughout the final quarter-of-a-mile. The soft ground appeared to find him out last time, and so the return to a sound surface will undoubtedly help him, and he looks sure to go very close. Little else makes serious appeal, though Komode made a decent debut on the polytrack but has failed to reproduce it on turf since. If he can get the hang of the surface here then he might be good enough to stay on for third, but for the winner we take Quarrymount to score.
