In depth

Verdict

Winning Spirit, Calloff The Search and High Style can dominate this tricky maiden, and Winning Spirit is taken to justify his name. The sons of Invincible Spirit have done well this season and Winning Spirit can maintain that run. He chased home Sonny Red on his debut, finishing a close third, and given that that one has scored again at Goodwood and is arguably the best two year old seen out then that was a very smart performance. Calloff The Search has run well on his two starts to date at Nottingham and Pontefract but he faces a useful rival here and a place may be the best he can hope for. Richard Hannon's High Style was well backed on his Redcar debut but disappointed, finishing third last. he did show pace for a long way, and is another who can fight it out for a place. Winning Spirit could not have done much more on his debut though and is a confident choice here.
