In depth

Verdict

Little form for us to go on in this opening maiden and we will side with Tepmokea to have the edge over Little Tokyo. The selection made a pleasing debut at York recently, taking a while to get going but then picking up nicely for today's pilot Andrew Elliott from halfway to be closest at the finish. The experience will not have been lost on him, and with improvement expected he is taken to score. Little Tokyo looks next best on debut form after a decent effort at Hamilton. He did not look as green as the selection that day but should still be able to find more and could be a big danger. Damselfly was started off in a tough enough York maiden and is better than the official margin of defeat suggested after being hampered, so from a powerful yard she is respected. Visterre needs to show more than on debut, while of the newcomers pedigree suggests that both Capo Regime and Come And Go can handle the cut underfoot well and may prove to be the best two. Even so, Tepmokea can call upon a decent debut experience and improve to take this.
