In depth

Verdict

Beyondtemptation was only 1lb higher than her previous winning mark when successful in a poor conditionals' event at Wetherby last week so it was a surprise that she started at 16/1. She defied those odds with a very easy all-the-way victory and escapes a penalty but she's been very inconsistent in the past. Donald McCain won this a year ago and Astrum will probably attract support but he's now had 13 starts over hurdles and finished second seven times so may not be an ideal ride for an amateur. CUMBRIAN FARMER has won twice over hurdles, both times on this track including over the distance on New Year's Day. He won't mind the quicker ground and a 5lb higher mark looks manageable so he can complete a double. Down Time is better over further while Perfect Summer was beaten a long way at Kempton, though in slightly better company.
