In depth

Verdict

PAIR OF KINGS is likely to start as favourite and receive the nominal vote ahead of Benefits Bill and Concoction. Alan Swinbank has hit the target with eight of his eighteen bumper runners at the track in recent seasons and Pair Of Kings showed enough on debut at Sedgefield to believe that he can win a little race in this sphere. Malcolm Jefferson also boasts a decent strike rate in bumpers at this track and Benefits Bill was relatively prominent in the market for his debut at Bangor; he may be able to take a hand in the finish of this contest if he can improve on his initial effort. The market will be useful in assessing the newcomers and Concoction is a likely looking sort and represents the yard responsible for the winner of the Sedgefield bumper in which Pair Of Kings made his debut. Talkin Sence showed a modicum of ability in Irish points and Wilde Pastures in a Musselburgh bumper whilst Marvelous and Kensix Star are two of the more interesting newcomers to line up in this event but the suggestion is Pair Of Kings.
