In depth

Verdict

In the finale, El Dottore is selected ahead of Gordonsville and Polish Myth, with Hunting Haze looking best of the rest. In truth, this is a race that lacks strength and El Dottore, who finished a fair fourth to Gongidas at Windsor last time, will rarely get a better chance to win a race. Gordonsville has raced only six times so must have had his problems but, given that he raced from a mark of 83 in handicap company - and was not disgraced - at Goodwood last summer, he really ought to go very well here. The newcomer Polish Myth comes into things given that he is quite well-bred and hails from a stable whose horses are going well. Of the others, Hunting Haze has at least shown some ability, having run to form rating in the mid-50s but El Dottore really ought to be able to better that quite comfortably and remains the selection.
