Verdict

Courageous ended a long losing run at Chester last time and is back up in the weights as a consequence, while recent Haydock winner Pelmanism has a career-high mark to contend with. Judge 'N Jury won this back in 2008 but is not the force of old, while Favourite Girl has struggled to add to last season's four victories, though she was beaten only a head in last year's renewal and is not easily dismissed. Master Rooney is a rare winner and preference is for stablemate VERINCO. He's held his own in better company over 6f since blasting home over the minimum trip at Carlisle in August and, although 9lb higher today, Bryan Smart's front-runner will be hard to peg back in this ground if allowed an easy lead. Magical Macey is progressing well and looks a real threat.
