Verdict

Sheepclose was well-backed on debut and looks a player but his penalty may make life tough and instead we will plump for FAIRYNUFF who shaped with plenty of potential in a Market Rasen bumper that is working out well. Kate Walton's son of Terimon was an 11/1 chance on debut but he ran well behind Eastern Supreme. That horse has run well in defeat since under a penalty and with the third winning since the form looks solid. His brother Kack Handed is modest but he handles soft ground so the easier going today should be ok and a bold bid is expected. County Colours has shaped with promise in two bumpers but this purchase from Ireland needs to settle better this afternoon, Sheepclose beat Knockaveen on debut which looks solid form in the context of this race, whilst Bay Rebel was well-fancied for her racecourse debut at Wetherby but she disappointed but better is anticipated today. Morello Mist shaped with promise behind Dear Sam here last time, and along with newcomer Smudger gives trainer Sue Smith a strong hand. Any market support for The Wayward Lord would have to be taken seriously, however in a tricky finish to the card it is Fairynuff who is preferred.
