In depth

Verdict

A moderate contest but AL FURAT showed much-improved form when stepping up to around this trip at Redcar and his young rider's claim reduces the effect of a 9lb rise in the weights. Fast conditions will be a help but the other recent winner in the field, Brook Star, appreciated soft ground when losing her maiden tag at Redcar and could do with some rain. Rapturous Applause improved when stepped up markedly in trip at Carlisle and goes even further this time while Shirls Son Sam was having only his fifth start when producing a good effort over this trip last time and can improve again.
