    Verdict

Cobbet appears to have been laid out for this again, and gets the nod over Master Rex, Hit And Run and Wahiba Sands. The latter would have carried these a few years ago and although now a shadow of his former self, is not to be dismissed entirely. However, we have been waiting for Cobbet to run since his eyecatching reappearance third to El Bandito at Newbury just under three weeks ago. The latter declines a rematch on what would have been eight-pound worse terms, and Tom George's spring horse should make them all go. He lines up on a stone higher mark than when successful in this event 12 months ago, but made such improvement afterwards, with subsequent victories at Kelso and Perth, that he appears to still not be badly treated. The minimum trip and good ground are both in his favour and Cobbet rates a solid bet. Master Rex is in form, having won his last two starts, but will find this to be a tough task, while Hit And Run gets a chance to atone after being brought down in the Grand Annual. His form last season was not as good as the selection though, and Cobbet is the one to be on.
