In depth

Verdict

OUR FATHER created a very favourable impression on his debut over C&D last month, coming from last to first to win going away. Open to plenty of improvement, David Pipe's five-year-old can go on to better things and a penalty is unlikely to stop him in this grade. Upthemsteps didn't appear to beat much at Towcester but the second and third have both gone on to frank the form so Ian Williams' charge shouldn't be underestimated. Thomas Wild was placed in all four starts in bumpers but it's probably significant that Richard Johnson has opted for Philip Hobbs' other runner, Roalco De Farges, who has shaped with a bit of promise in two runs over timber. Gorgehous Lliege and winning pointer Listenlook may need more time but look best of the rest.
