Verdict

This may not be as competitive as it first appears as only a few hold solid claims on recent form and the vote goes to Perfect Night, who gets the verdict over Madamoiselle Jones and Captain Hardy. The selection has found one too good in each of her last two starts, latterly in handicap-company when headed close home by Just A Martian at Bath, and she has obvious claims off just a 1lb higher mark. Madamoiselle Jones has gone up 4lbs for winning a similar contest over course and distance last time and has more to do here. Captain Hardy is a consistent performer but probably needs a bit of assistance from the handicapper who has given Sylvester Kirk's gelding little respite. Patandon Girl has to be respected on the form shown when winning at Folkestone in May but has disappointed in all three starts since including at Salisbury recently and she is probably best watched. Gems Bond has slipped to an attractive mark and is another worthy of a mention but Perfect Night has plenty going for her and is the selection.
