Verdict

Michael Appleby's Seneschal made virtually all the running when belying odds of 50/1 when beating Patavium Prince at Brighton last month and he has every chance on that evidence but a 10lb rise for that win makes following up no easy task and a better bet looks to be BELLE DES AIRS, who gets the vote ahead of Sailorman. Mark Johnston's colt is surely better than he showed on his handicap debut at Newmarket last time when last of the nine runners and cannot be discounted having created a favourable impression at Thirsk previously. The Ron Hodges-trained Kyllachy Storm has been running consistently well and should be thereabouts again but he looks booked for place at best, while Michael Blanshard's Copperwood has yet to reproduce Polytrack form on turf. Woodcote Place is hard to recommend on recent form and preference is for Ralph Beckett's Belle des Airs, who bounced back from a disappointing effort behind Kerrys Requiem at Goodwood with a decent effort when chasing home Space Station at Epsom recently and she has solid claims racing off the same mark today.
