      Verdict

A race that will not take a lot of winning and SURPRISE US is offered up as a tentative selection. Mark Gillard's eight-year-old placed in this race off a 1lb higher mark last year, and having gone close over course and distance last month, he has more positives than most. Bernard Llewellyn has farmed races of this nature over the years and Petrify and Marengo have claims on the pick of their form. The trainer also returns Sweet World to the Flat some 10lb lower than on his last appearance and the veteran should be fresh from a recent outing over hurdles. Andrew Balding sent out the winner of this race in 2013 so Perfect Legend has to be treated with the utmost respect despite folding tamely on his latest start at Salisbury.
