Verdict

A tricky finale but ENGLISH SUMMER doesn't often compete at this comparatively lowly level and, though only beating one home in the Queen's Vase at Kempton last time, is starting to look well handicapped and Franny Norton knows his way around here like the back of his hand. Mark Johnston's charge can make the most of his proven fitness and stamina. Meetings Man, Tenhoo and Pintrada can all improve for their respective comeback runs while Luggers Hall won over hurdles at Kempton last month and can figure. Sir Boss finished a close third behind the selection over a slightly longer trip a year ago and is now 8lbs better off but he appears to have gone backwards since.
