PURPLE SAGE can get off the mark at the fourth time of asking although John Dunlop's Persian Memories does look a big threat on the evidence of her third at Goodwood from which she can be expected to benefit considerably. Forced to race wide at Lingfield last time, Purple Sage raced keenly throughout and that zest had also been displayed prior to her races in the past, where she has tended to get stirred up beforehand. On a positive note, Chris Catlin should be able to attain plenty of over from the stall one box. The maidens which she contested at Newmarket looked smart and she is the one to beat. Persian Memories third at Goodwood has worked out well with a whole host of winners emerging from the race. She did take a while to pick up when angled out to challenge last time but finished with a real flourish and is clearly a filly still learning but moving forward. Of the remainder DIAMOND SURPRISE has one outing under her belt, that being a never nearer fifth placing at Beverley. Soft ground conditions at Beverley for her debut would have been far from ideal for one so inexperienced and although she finished fifth, she was only a little over six lengths behind the eventual winner. The quicker conditions on offer here should be more to her liking. Damselfly is related to some smart sorts but has shown very little in two starts. She weakened very quickly last time suggesting she was not suited by the soft ground and although she commenced her career in a decent fillies maiden, nothing of sufficient promise could be gathered from it. She tackles seven furlongs for the first time here but it is worth noting that this ploy did result in her most notable relative, Putra Pekan breaking his maiden tag. Lindy Hop finished in behind Purple Sage at Lingfield, not at any point getting competitive. The market should provide a good guide to her chances but Purple Sage can break her maiden tag.
