In depth

Verdict

An entry in the Irish St Leger suggests Festive Cheer is expected to stay much further this season and last year's Epsom Derby third hasn't been seen since a trip to Dubai in March for the Sheema Classic where he finished tailed off. Parish Hall is much more at home over this trip having been narrowly beaten in his last two starts at the track though he carries a penalty for a Listed race success. Dermot Weld won this three times with Famous Name and AFTERNOON SUNLIGHT fits the bill this time around. The daughter of Sea The Stars steps up in trip after making all over a mile at Leopardstown where she just held off Palace and her pedigree suggests she'll have no problems staying the extra. Alive Alive Oh hasn't progressed as expected following last season's Listed success but Ponfeigh will find this easier than taking on Australia in the Derby here where he ran well for a long way.
