In depth

Verdict

Osolomio stepped up on his debut effort over timber when successful at Chepstow last month and has to be respected on that evidence but Jennie Callindish's gelding has a penalty to carry for that effort and may struggle to give weight and a beating to Nodforms Paula, who gets the vote ahead of Rathmulen. The last mentioned has shown signs of ability in two starts over hurdles and Henrietta Knight's gelding is open to improvement. Mabel may do better for being stepped up in trip, while Bal Birnie has not progressed as much as may have been anticipated since being put over timber. The vote though goes to the Paul Nicholls-trained Nodforms Paula. A bumper winner for former trainer Karen McLintock, he should come on a bundle for his hurdling debut at Bangor in December and is taken to give the Nicholls/Walsh combination a good start to another Saturday.
