Verdict

Despite the presence of Frankie Dettori on board Louis The Pious, it would be no surprise if the improving LIGHTNING CLOUD proved the pick of Kevin Ryan's pair and he gets the nod in a competitive handicap as a 3lb rise for a solid second at Ascot in July seems fair. White Frost is unbeaten this year but has gone up a further 6lb for his latest success at Newmarket and this is a better race. Roninski just scraped home at Catterick last time and may also be in the handicapper's grip now, while Sacrosanctus is probably best watched with his stable struggling for winners at present. The lightly-weighted Sea Soldier should be thereabouts, however, and makes more appeal than Firebeam who may find the ground too lively. Shesastar won well at York last month but would also probably prefer a softer surface, though Jamie Spencer is 2-2 on David Barron's filly.
