In depth

Verdict

A tricky race to call in which we will give the tentative vote to Sir Duke with both El Dececy and Granston worth noting. The selection has been nothing but consistent this summer winning four times and never out of the first three. As a consequence he has risen 28 pounds and will try and win off a career high mark. He was beaten into second place at Ascot last time out and in the process he lost nothing in defeat and although life from now on will be tough another big run can be expected. El Dececy bids for a four timer after wins at Warwick, Nottingham and Hamilton and has risen 12 pounds in the weights as a result. He carries a six pound penalty for his latest win so connections are keen to strike while the iron is hot and is therefore worth noting in the betting market. Granston could be weighted to win again. His form is of a consistent level of late and as he has in the past won off six pound higher mark so he is given respect. But for the winner we return to Sir Duke.
