In depth

Verdict

As none of these has previously seen the racecourse, the betting market ought to provide a number of clues as to the respective chances of the runners. Bear that in mind but, without the benefit of that knowledge, we'll side with Next Time over, possibly, Theatre Of Dreams and Persian Rock. The horses that we think are the most-likely to play a part in this race are as follows. Persian Rock, who cost 37,000 guineas as a yearling but, as a consequence, has to concede weight to the field. However, the upside is that Darryll Holland has been booked for the ride. Brut, Mindful, Theatre Of Dreams and Next Time all have plenty of speed in their pedigrees and it would be no surprise to see any or all of them go well. Of the others, Mr Kalandi is interesting in that he is closely related to the Derby winner Sinndar, although the chances are that he will find this trip too short on his racecourse debut, while Champagne Brandy is another who might find today's trip on the sharp side, despite there being speed evident in her mother's bloodline. As we say, a market move for any of the field would be interesting but, overall, we will side with Next Time, who also has the added benefit of being drawn close to the stands-side rail.
