Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

Steps had Secret Witness and Judge 'n Jury behind when winning last year's renewal. But he's 3lb higher today and a repeat may prove beyond him. Doc Hay won a Listed event at Ascot three weeks ago and beat several of today's opponents at York last month including CAPTAIN DUNNE. The latter looked much more like his old self when runner-up at York a fortnight ago, however and, 10lb lower than his latest win, Tim Easterby's sprinter looks set to run a big race in this. Kaldoun Kingdom and Jamaican Bolt have a bit to find with the selection on latest running and though Ballista remains in fine form, he'd prefer a faster surface along with Cheviot. A drop back to the minimum trip is a worry for the hat-trick-seeking Jack Dexter but York Glory could figure at his best.
