In depth

Verdict

Feel The Pride, Carthys Cross and Banchory Two form the shortlist, with the vote going to Feel he Pride. A three-time chase winner, Feel The Pride was a good third to Cerium at Aintree on Sunday and, given that that rates as decent form, he is fully respected today. Carthys Cross seems to be improving with age and, given that he would have needed his latest run, when third behind the decent Royal Hector, he looks set to go well. Banchory Two did not do as much over hurdles as hoped for but he ought to be given another chance over the bigger obstacles before the jury decides. Finally, Dabus has a bit to find on form, and Rooster's Reunion needs to improve, it would seem, which returns us to the selection, which is Feel The Pride.
