In depth

Verdict

Colonel Mak had been racing on the all-weather before winning last year's renewal but is making his seasonal debut this time around. Jamaican Bolt will relish soft ground but has done all his winning over 5f so far. Ancient Cross may have finished down the field in this last season but has his preferred going today, though the latter was beaten by THUNDERBALL over track and trip in October along with five more of today's opposition that included Shropshire and Farlow. Fit from racing on the all-weather, Scott Dixon's charge looks up to landing this and gets the vote. Spinatrix, Another Wise Kid and Chooseday are others who could go well if the ground rides slow and Mass Rally is not easily dismissed, though has a poor strike rate.
