In depth

Verdict

Maxwell Hawke continues to frustrate and of more interest are Watch Amigo and APACHE RIDGE with notional preference for the latter. This is a competitive contest with some experienced handicappers and the likes of Jimwil and Toby Tyler have to be respected whilst Maxwell Hawke has been the subject of morning money once or twice including on his return at Thirsk where he trailed home in last. He's lightly enough raced and is clearly deemed to be well handicapped but preference is for Apache Ridge who also finished in last place as a beaten favourite when last seen. However, it may be worth forgiving him that poor run on the fibresand and he remains of interest on the balance of his turf form. Watch Amigo showed promise in two all-weather maidens and there was plenty to like about his handicap bow at Pontefract where he was dropped back to six furlongs. The run should bring him on and he shapes as though he'll appreciate moving back up in distance and should go well but we're siding with Apache Ridge.
