Verdict

Defence Of Duress made his debut for Tom Taaffe at Sligo and ran very well before falling when holding every chance at Wexford. His latest start came when beaten a short-head on the Flat at Galway and he looks certain to be winning soon though possibly over further. Smithfield won on the Flat at Killarney last month and looks a nice hurdling prospect for Noel Meade but it's DECADE PLAYER who gets the vote. Paul Rothwell's charge showed tremendous improvement when runner-up to Font Of Wisdom at Ballinrobe and with further progress likely and Andrew Ring's claim a major plus he can gain his first success. He holds both Sizing Machine and Dumbarton on that latest run though it would be no great surprise if those two got much closer this time. Faustino Pius looks best of the remainder.
