In depth

Verdict

Golden Lyric didn't enjoy soft ground when a disappointing favourite at Naas but did much better when chasing home Messidor here in November and the winner went on to complete a double. BATON ROUGE started odds-on at Cork in August but didn't handle heavy ground and was well beaten into third. A full brother to several very smart performers, he'll be expected to leave that form behind this campaign. Colin Keane partners Princess Plumeria, who has a fitness advantage over stable companion Holly Golightly after a fair debut over 6f here but the latter, a close relative of eight winners, made a very encouraging debut here in November. Kalaroun ran in three strong maidens at the Curragh and is another likely to do much better in his second season.
