    Verdict

Mishall produced a smart performance on his debut, and with that experience under his belt he is impossible to oppose in this opening race; Top Spec looks best of the rest. Marcus Tregoning's colt was not unfancied before his debut at Sandown Park, when he showed plenty of pace and led for a long way before eventually finishing second to the more experienced Grand Rich King, with the third horse a long way away. This 85,000 guineas son of Grand Lodge gave the impression his turn was merely delayed and he should surely score in what looks a fairly ordinary maiden. The forecast option should be Top Spec, who takes a significant step up in trip having fared reasonably well in two starts over five furlongs and is preferred to Anuvasteel, who has failed to fulfil the promise showed on debut. But Mishall is a smart colt in the making and will be very hard to beat here.
