In depth

Verdict

The ground was on the soft side of good when HI SHINKO was successful over course and distance last week and should not be inconvenienced by the faster ground today but the 6lb penalty may prevent him from following up in a race taken to go to DESERT FALLS, who gets the vote over Ermine And Velvet. Clive Brittain's filly showed improved form in a Salisbury maiden last time and she has to be respected back in a handicap today having been dropped to a mark of 85. Gary Moore's Fajita has more to do than when landing a claimer at Newmarket last time having been raised 6lbs since then. Ed Vaughan's Dance And Dance is capable but inconsistent, while Belle Des Airs has been running consistently well but may prefer a softer surface. Preference then is for Desert Falls, who showed improved form when stepped up to seven furlongs for the first time on his latest start and he looks worth backing to go one better off just a 1lb higher mark today.
