In depth

Verdict

CAPE ROYAL runs the track well and is preferred to Brynfa Boy ad Master Lightfoot who both have more to give; Highland Harvest looks the best of the race. Milton Bradley's gallant old-timer has been holding his form well of late, including when winning at Ripon in the middle of June. This speedy gelding has held his form well since and it's not inconceivable that a third course and distance win could be on the cards today. Brynfa Boy will be coming home with a rattle under Tony Culhane who knows him well and he could feature if the line doesn't come too soon, Master Lightfoot has shown plenty of dash of late and might relish today's unique test, whilst Ocean Blaze has a very good downhill record and is far from discounted. Lost In Paris is one of several front-runners who will ensure there's no hanging around, whilst Safari Mischief looks well-handicapped given his form in big handicaps over the last twelve months. Highland Harvest was well-backed ahead of his Brighton win last time when he was dropping to this trip for the first time. He's unexposed and must not be ignored, however this race has much more strength in depth and he needs to improve plenty to defy a 4lb higher mark. An open sprint then where preference is for Cape Royal.
