A tough race to get Epsom's action underway and a chance is taken with Beckett Hall, who edges the selection over Desert Consort, Thomas A Beckett and Seven Samurai. The last named showed improved form at Folkestone last month and is shaping up nicely. He is can pick up a small handicap somewhere along the line if he continues to go the right way. Thomas A Beckett is speedily bred and looks sure to have benefited from his debut run. Watch the betting where he is concerned. Desert Consort was another that showed a marked improvement when he last raced and is in the right hands to be placed to good effect. This trip should not be a problem for him and he can play a leading role from a good draw on the far rail. However, Beckett Hall has the best form on offer at this stage and is fancied to have the natural ability to overcome the minor set-back (in this company) of a wide draw. The Stravinsky colt took on some fair opponents last time and was far from disgraced in defeat. Beckett Hall also has the proven ability to handle an undulating surface and looks set to make his presence known over a trip that will be ideal for him.
