In depth

Verdict

Lightning Affair looks to have an easy task here and Mark Johnston's colt is a strong fancy to beat Military Cross and Flying Clarets. This son of Thunder Gulch has put in two excellent efforts to date, running High Command close, before chasing home the Godolphin runner The Visualiser. Both looked stronger events than this and he should lose his maiden tag today. Military Cross finished runner up to Saabiq on his Yarmouth debut and should improve for the run. However Mark Johnston's Austrian was close up in third and so the Middleham handler should know exactly who he stands with this one. Flying Clarets has shown bits and pieces of form and looks the pick of the others. So in what looks virtually a two horse war Lightning Affair is a confident choice.
