In depth

Verdict

This is a cracking opener complicated by the fact that Midnight Tune, who can be forgiven his latest run at Haydock, is also engaged at Warwick. Anthony Honeyball’s novice has a decent chance in this if turning up. Over To Sam beat VIRGINIA CHICK just under two lengths at Plumpton but the runner-up is 2lb better off and back on a track on which he’s already won twice – Izzie Williams’ mount, a dour stayer, can come out on top this time. Another course and distance winner, Golden Sunrise, is much respected and Springfield Fox should also be in the firing-line having made a winning start over fences at Chepstow. Some Can Dance and Ocean Cove may prove the pick of the remainder.
