Unless there's something decent amongst the newcomers, CAPE CLEAR ISLAND can get off the mark after narrow defeats by useful performers at the Curragh. He's had Baldonnel behind on both occasions and has nothing to fear from Dermot Weld's grey on that form while Cape Wolfe was just over a length behind him on his debut and has since been beaten at odds-on though that was over an extra furlong. Popularity is also held but it's likely there's more to come from Jim Bolger's son of Cape Cross and he shouldn't be dismissed.
