In depth

Verdict

The Islander is tried in first-time cheekpieces after a poor run in Listed company at the Curragh where the fast ground didn't appear to suit. Kernoff didn't get the clearest of runs in a very tough Naas handicap after scoring over 5f on quick ground at Tipperary. He had earlier been beaten a length by Mr Good Guy at Dundalk and double that margin by WIND INHER SLEEVES on the same track and the latter was also in front of him in that Naas handicap. She was having her first start for Michael Halford that day and looks the type to go on to better things so can take this. Pearl Earing ended her first campaign with an emphatic maiden victory at Sligo and will have needed her comeback run at the Curragh so she has to be respected.
