Verdict

Out Now looked potentially useful when landing a beginners race at Limerick and started favourite on his next start at Tipperary but was never travelling well and finished a long way behind Slieveardagh. The winner was probably fortunate as two rivals fell when in front of him but it was still a very pleasing debut and there's surely more to come. One of those who came to grief was GRACCHUS, who was going nicely before departing at the second last and would probably have won. He tackles this trip for the first time which is obviously a concern but the ground is in his favour and he can gain compensation. Black Jack Blues arrives from the UK in brilliant form and the former useful hurdler is a very nice recruit to the bigger obstacles as is Alpine Eagle, who has improved with experience over fences and comfortably won a novices event at Roscommon which last year's winner of this, Beau Michael, landed a year ago.
