Verdict

Hidden Universe, a Grade 1 winning bumper, hasn't quite done as well over hurdles but has massive potential and will have been primed for this. DIRAR, third in this a year ago before winning the Ebor at York, hasn't had too much racing subsequently but Gordon Elliott will have him spot-on here and a 7lb rise in the weights looks perfectly manageable. The trainer is also represented by Plan A, who has been gradually progressing and did well to score at Perth from a decent field when last seen in April. Redera was raised a massive 16lb after completing his hat-trick at Roscommon and Deutschland, though possibly the best of the Willie Mullins trio, is better over longer trips. Bahrain Storm was a fancy for yesterday's Plate but Gimli's Rock is a real quality hurdler who arrives in top form having beaten a big field on the Flat at the Curragh last month. Captain Cee Bee's recent victory over The Real Article was mired in controversy as the runner-up appeared to be tenderly handled after the last. No doubt he'll be strongly fancied to reverse the form but he'll be a short price for what is always an ultra-competitive event.
